I have often used techniques such as stand up meetings, late fines, leaving laptops and mobiles at the door and even renaming meetings as ‘positive and productive’ to make meetings for focused and effective. I have also encouraged them to be run as ‘walking meetings’. There is a completely different dynamic when people walk and talk, the route can also be used to control the time. Kate Humble in her book ‘Thinking on my Feet’ expounds the benefits of walking from a physical and mental health perspective. She explains how one personal coach in New York conducts his coaching session by walking through Central Park with his clients rather than in an office, which has a very positive impact upon tension and body language.

The Horses4Change Leadership Development Workshops are conducted at the peaceful Lower Hall location for the same reasons. The Equine Assisted Experiential Learning Workshops combines Conference Room presentation, time with the horses, healthy great food and reflection time in the tranquil grounds of Lower Hall.
